Registration Dates Set
Registration for the 2013-2014 youth Hockey season will be held on Wednesday September, 11th and Thursday September 12th at the Ralph G. Cantile Arena in Cheboygan on Wednesday from 6-9 pm and Thursday from 6-8 pm.
A parent/guardian and the participant are required to attend one of these sessions and complete all required documentation. (Which can be printed online @ cheboyganhockey.com)
The registration fee for the 2013-2014 season, along with any outstanding fees, must be paid in full on or before September 12th. If you wish to start making payments early to ensure that you are paid in full by registration, checks made payable to (CHA) may be mailed to Doug Deeter c/o Cheboygan Hockey Association, 1792 Orchard Beach rd. Cheboygan MI. 49721
You must still attend registration with player. A late registration fee of $50.00 will be charged to all registrants who pay any portion of their registration fee after the last registration date.
If you are unable to attend one of these dates, please contact Doug Deeter At 231-625-2126 in order to make arrangements to pre-register prior to September 10th.
At Registration, we will be requiring a separate check for $75.00 per player dated April 1st, 2014, when you return your players Jersey, socks, name riders and captains/asst. patches at the end of the season you will receive your check back. If you fail to return any of the above mentioned items, your check will be cashed. In order to keep costs down, we have been forced to adopt this policy. ****This does not apply to the u/6 age group*****
U/6 skaters, Once again, CHA has decided to offer free hockey for first (1st) year U/6 skaters. We have also decided to divide the U/6 program into two sessions; The first will be from October – December And the second will be from January – March.
Second year U/6 players will pay $75.00 per session and third year players will pay $125.00 per session, (You do not have to sign up for both sessions) at registration
***New this year,USA Hockey and MAHA are REQUIRING a National Background check, there is a $10:00 fee for any parent/ grandparent/guardian wanting to go in the locker rooms to dress or undress their child. this is paid to maha/usa hockey on the maha website, Cha will not be responsible for the $10:00 fee, no one will be allowed in the locker rooms without a background check!*****
***U/6 parents will be required to Volunteer six (6) hours of time to the concession area; we will let those parents know what time frame they have, to get their time in.***
NEW U/8 members will also be free this season. (However, Volunteer time is required)
Use of equipment for U/6-U/8 players is free for the season with the exception of having to provide your own skates and stick. you will have to provide a deposit of$ 75.00 (check) WHICH WILL BE RETURNED PROVIDED WE GET Our EQUIPMENT BACK OTHERWISE IT WILL BE CASHED AT THE END OF THE SEASON!
***Please bring a copy of participant’s birth certificate with you on registration day if you are a new member****
Player registration costs
Player registration costs for the 2013-2014 hockey season will be as indicated below. With the City raising our ice rates we have been forced to raise our registration rates this year! In keeping with Cheboygan Hockey Associations philosophy “FOR THE KIDS” it is, and continues to be our goal to keep the cost of Cheboygan Hockey affordable for every child that wants to play.

***NOTE new U/6 & U/8s (Mites) are free with the exception of the USA hockey registration fees and back ground check fee***
Cheboygan Hockey Association Board of Directors reserves the right to deny any family the option of paying the reduced rate by doing volunteer time. If you have been denied the option of volunteer time, you will be notified in writing and required to pay the full registration price at registration.
PRIOR TO REGISTRATION EVERY PLAYER AND COACH MUST BE REGISTERED WITH USA HOCKEY. You can do this by going online at www.usahockey.com. USA Hockey only accepts payment by credit card. If you don’t have a credit card you can purchase a prepaid card at Wal-Mart or your bank. If you do not have internet, you can use the Computers at the Cheboygan Public Library.
NO PLAYER WILL BE ALLOWED ON THE ICE UNTIL YOU HAVE THIS TURNED IN.
Please be sure to bring a printed copy to registration. There will be a $35.00 fee per player when you register at USA Hockey. Even if you have paid in full, your player is not registered until ALL paperwork is filed with CHA.
Each registration will be date and time stamped and divisions will be filled on a 1st come 1st serve basis.
The 2013-2014 season is scheduled to begin with draft skates on Sunday Sept. 22nd, starting with squirts at 1:00 pm Followed by peewees at 2:00 pm there are no draft skates scheduled for Mites, Bantams, Girls or Midgets, Practice will start the week of October 14th.
Mandatory parent meetings will be scheduled with team meetings this year, a parent/guardian of each player is required to attend and sign the parent Code of Conduct requirement. This is required for your player to be on the ice, so if you do not Show up for your scheduled meeting, your child will be removed from practice/games until you meet with the S.T.A.R rep Kevin Hansz and/or the CHA President Mike Raymus and get this form filled out
Coaches/Referees Anyone interested in Coaching can contact our Coaching Coordinator Kevin Hansz at 231-420-7203 or 231-597-019, Also, if anyone is interested in reffing they should contact CHA President, Mike Raymus 231-627-2304 (all coaches are required to meet the mandatory requirements set by USA Hockey and MAHA.
This year for the U/6-U/8 levels, there only needs to be one coach that has at least a level 1 coaching card and coaching module, All assistant coaches for U/6-U/8 only have to register with USA hockey, have a background check and do the appropriate coaching module.
(UNLESS YOU GO TO A COACHING CLINIC, YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ON THE PLAYERS BENCH DURING GAMES)
***All Coaches/Asst. coaches/team mgrs./LOCKER ROOOM ATTENDANTS are required to do a national background check (10.00 FEE) as well as the safe sport module on usa hockey in addition to any other modules/clinics you are required to have to coach. This is not an option!
CHALLENGE CUP AND JAMBOREE DATES HAVE YET TO BE DETERMINED
OBLIGATED WORK HOURS can only be worked in the concession and must be done by a parent/guardian, no children will be allowed in the concession while parents are working their volunteer time.
AS WITH LAST SEASON, we will be assigning blocks of time per team, to do their volunteer time. This will be coordinated with the TEAM PARENT AND Game scheduler. This should ensure everyone is able to get all of their time scheduled and worked! It is your responsibility to make sure you sign the concession schedule that will be kept in the concession area. Credit will not be given if you fail to sign in/out. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE TEAM PARENT (CHOSEN BY THE HEAD COACH) TO ASSIGN ALL VOLUNTEER HOURS NEEDED FOR THEIR TEAM, THIS IS NOT THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE BOARD. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE TO MAKE SURE YOU GET YOUR HOURS IN.
If you sign up for a specific time slot and are unable to show up, it is your responsibility to find someone to fill your spot or you will be charged.
*************IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO MAKE SURE YOUR PLAYERS UNIFORM/EQUIPMENT IS TURNED IN AT THE ENDOF THE SEASON, IF YOU FAIL TO DO THIS YOUR 75.00 CHECK WILL BE DEPOSITED. CHA WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR OVERDRAFT FEES IF YOUR CHECK IS DEPOSITED FOR NON RETURNED EQUIPMENT/JERSEY
